September Reports and Meeting Notes
Baron’s Report
Unto the Populace of
Stromgard,
Hail and well met!!
We near the end of the tournament season and our last baronial camping event of
the year quickly approaches. In thinking on this last season's events, I must
say that it has been a great one! Stromgard has shown her prowess in all
endeavors.
Our warriors have won renown, our artisans have shown such skills as to make the gods themselves take notice, and our barony grows in populace and word fame at every turn. We have had knights, and lords and ladies spring forth from our populace! We have fought great battles and won many equestrian tournaments. We have created amazing clothes and works of art.
Truly I am inspired to be among such greatness. When we were
entrusted with the barony, we set forth as one of our main goals- that everyone
in the barony should be able to live the dream that is the SCA to the highest
level that they wanted. I have seen that goal come to fruition this year. I
thank you all for making this game fun for everyone that has been around us
as a barony this year.
Our barony has become well known for its giving nature in largess and in
helping people to learn the arts so important in the SCA. We have seen
volunteerism rise at our local events, and it continues to do so even now.
Thank you all. I believe that generosity is a key to chivalry and as a barony
we are well known for both.
I would like to thank everyone that supported the fighters at the Crown
tournament. The strength that powers a warrior comes first from his
Inspiration, second from his friends, and lastly from himself. I looked around
at the tournament and saw members of Stromgard near every one of her fighters
congratulating them and offering assistance when needed. These are truly great
acts, and humbling to behold.
Congratulations Ibn...er Rodrigo on your Knighting!!
This weekend will be Game of Thrones and
Stormgods: Tiernan and the Temple of DOOM! The King and Queen will be there!
Come out and support this event as it will be a great one!
Volunteer early volunteer often.

Marshall Report
We are holding regular fighter practice, same old place, same old time. The
last couple of fighter practices have been smaller than usual. I am writing
those off to events as the season winds down.
I attended Crown. It was awesome to see 4 of our own people there in the semi-finals (I say four because Sir Octamasides and Sir Attais both come to our practice) as well as our own Sir Tiernan AND our own illustrious Baron, Sir Arnsbjorn. I have seen some of the best fighting I have ever been witness to in my 16 years in the SCA at this past Crown.
I will be making some demi-gauntlets from leather and some shoulders also from leather for the loaner kit these are 2 items sorely lacking in the kit. The kit is also in need of a sword or some such weapon. If any have a decent sword they can donate that they are not using anymore, it would be much appreciated.
I will be in attendance at A Game of Thrones and Stormgods. I hope to do some fighting, but if we are too light in Marshals, I will forgo fighting to marshal the Tournament.
Good Luck to all that enter the lists.
That is all.

October Reports and meeting notes
Baron’s Report
Unto the Populace of
Stromgard,
Hail! And well met!!
We have completed yet another camping season, and we would like to thank
everyone who has made our events so successful. From the autocrats to the
volunteers we have all pulled together and made this one of the best camping
seasons we have ever had.
The Game of Thrones and Stormgods: Bad News
Tiernan's was a well run and very successful event. Thank you Raul and Amice
for stepping up last minute, and doing so much to help make that a successful
event. Thank you to all the volunteers at gate, marshaling, setup, etc. Without
everyone pitching in this event would not have been nearly as successful as it
was. We have received many compliments on both the event and the site itself.
Also CONGRATULATIONS to all of our new Champions. Sir Octamasades, Mommy, and
Lord Armand.
Though Crown was not our event I believe I saw more Stromgardians there then I
remember seeing in a long time. We had an awesome campsite set up with all the
period pavilions facing the road and a long column of tents period to non
period stretched out to make a wonderful center area where everyone could
congregate. We had many guests in our camp and they remarked on our hospitality
and graciousness as hosts. Thank you everyone. We also were able to help with
Sir Rodrigo's vigil party, one of the best parties of the year!! Thank you to
Sir Octamasadas and Achaxe for allowing us the honor to use the baronial
pavilion to host the feast. Your household adds word fame to our great barony.
Autumn War. While our numbers were low at Autumn War this year we still had one
of the best showings at this event that I can remember. We, and our
allies, fought bravely and won the war points for heavy combat. We
did very well in the iron needle competition, and the
equestrian. We would like to see if we can get more participation at
this event next year, and do even better!
The Grand Thing...Stunning success. Thank you everyone!! All the
volunteers and everyone else who showed up to take classes, teach classes,
drink mead, and have fun. This is truly the premier Viking event in the
SCA!!
To all the people who help with the day to day activities in the upkeep of the
Barony, Thank YOU! I would especially like to thank everyone who has done
scribal work: Edeline, Valdemere, Dame Arwen's apprentices, and everyone else.
Though these are often great works of art, they are not only works of art;
they are a representation of the dream of chivalry that is the SCA. I have all
my scrolls. Each one is dear to me, and they provide a connection between
me, the people who gave the award, and the artists who created the scroll.
This is one of the greatest forms of volunteering in the SCA. THANK
YOU!! I would also like to thank the Autocrats of all the events,
without whom, these events couldn't take place. Finally the volunteers: when we
stepped up, the volunteerism in the Barony seemed to be taking a hit, now we
are known as one of the best volunteering baronies in AnTir. I have seen our
people setting up pavilions, sitting gate, marshalling, etc. Not just at our
events but as far away as Estrella!
With the feasting season approaching we need to keep up these great
efforts. Remember volunteer early volunteer often.
Note from the Baron...Me. I was recently going over the promises we made to the
Barony when we decided to put in our names for the Coronets. The main points
were to develop a family atmosphere, help people play the game to the
level they desired, and help the barony grow.
To the first two of these I would speak now.
I have noticed a great feeling of camaraderie in our Barony. It started from
the time we were a Shire and I believe with each successive Coronet this
feeling has grown stronger. Through our ability to communicate and work
together we have all made this happen. Let us keep this in the forefront of our
thoughts as we move forward. Through communication and teamwork we can make
each year better then the last. Let's keep it up!! I would like to again
reiterate our open door policy. If there is an issue with anything we do please
feel free to contact us. We don't bite...hard. :)
In order to help people in the barony play at the level they desire, we have
made efforts to expand the scope of what we as a Barony have focused on. Our
archery, equestrian, rapier, cooking, and other crafts have all seen great
growth over the last year. In the next year we are seeking ways to help all of
the combat arts, and arts and sciences grow in our Barony. To that end, please
feel free to contact us with ideas, we always look for input from everyone to
help the development of the Barony.
Our Barony has seen some good growth over the last few months. We have had
people move here from other areas and we have had new people joining us. This
is great! I have seen between 5 to 10 new fighters at practice, more people
then I have seen in years. I know also that these fighters represent people
with other interests who will also be coming to events. It is very exciting. I
believe the Baroness has some ideas about growth in this area.
That is about all I have right now.

Gold Key Report
Gold Key will be at the Storm Gods site later this
week. I will be
setting up a tent for it and some racks to hang things on, but will
leave all the clothing in the totes until I can get there.
I have been having a few family problems so I will not be able to
attend the meeting on Wednesday night and have to
run up to Vancouver
BC on Thursday. I will be in the Seattle area on family business as
well on Friday so will not be able to be there
for the opening of the
event.
I will be on site either late Friday evening or
early Saturday morning
depending on traffic and stuff.
Anyone who needs to use Gold Key before I arrive onsite is welcome to
check out what is in the totes and find something that might work for
them. Otherwise, I will be happy to help them after I arrive.

Marshall Report
I apologize to everyone for not being present; a situation
has arisen that has preempted my presence in Body this meeting.
We continue to have good attendance at our fighter practice.
Baron Arnsbjorn has provided much needed elbows, forearms, gorget and a Sword
for the loaner kit (YEAH!!)
There has been a development at our site...they are turning
the lights under the covered area off earlier then they used to...at this time
the fighters simply move to the parking lot to continue their pummeling of each
other.
Some of the fighters have raised the idea of trying to find a new place that
does not have as much vehicle Traffic. Not sure where to go with this.

Stormgods is coming this weekend. I'll be there with

I want to thank everyone for supporting me (and volunteering!) during my term
as waterbearer. I've learned a lot and I've had fun serving others.
I will debrief my replacement before event season begins next year since she
was unable to attend Stormgods as she and I had planned.
Thank you again to all who have helped and supported me while I filled in the
shoes of this office. I couldn't have done it without you!

Lists Report - Oct 8, 2008
I did the Lists for Stormgods. It went smoothly.
Learned a new to me fighting format... no heralds needed... basically a
"squires tournament" format.
Sir Octamasades won with Torfin Torrgulssen and Olin Ulfredson came in
close behind.
Had 2 great helpers!
A very nice lady from Three Mountains whose name I still can't remember did the
rapier championship for us.
Francis Darcy helped me with the heavy tournament.

Herald’s Report
Greetings from Stanton MacLlyr, Red Trident Pursuivant: Herald’s report for September 2008 follows:
Court Report, Thrones and Stormgods, September 2008
At morning Court, following announcements and challenges, Baroness Reginleif spoke eloquently about what the Sergeantry means to her, and explained the details of the process, and announced that she would receive letters of intent beginning at Yule Feast.
In the afternoon, following the Rapier Championship, Their Excellencies reopened court briefly, to accept the Oath of Fealty of their new Champion, Lord Armand de Castille, as he had to leave, and couldn’t wait for evening court.
Royal Court was held after dark by Queen Wren, Sable Lioness, and to of own received awards from her hands. Our archery Champion, Cyriac the Hunter, was awarded Arms, and HL Valdemere en Austravik was entered into the Right Noble Order of the Goutte de Sangue.
Following Royal Court, Baronial Court was held. Our fair Baroness recognized the personal help given her by giving three people each a Seamair, the Baroness’ Favor. Sir Rodrigo Othello de Granada, Myra ban Parthalian, and Octar/Jacque. Our new Heavy Champion, Sir Octamsades, took his Oath of Service, as he is already in Fealty to Their Majesties as the Champion of An Tir. Countess Miranda was named as Stromgard’s Equestrian Champion, and exchange Fealty Oaths with Their Excellencies.
Arnsbjorn awarded a Baron’s Favor to Chodric, for his faithful service.
Finnr of the Village of Bjorgvin came forward with many gifts, and brought the court to the edge of tears with his description of the hospitality and closeness he felt in Stromgard, and asked for the chance to swear Fealty to Their Excellencies. Baroness Reginleif then brought Finnr to tears by offering him Citizenship.
In other news, I have been approached by several people who have expressed a possible desire to serve this fair Barony as Herald. While I know that will not be making a choice of a successor in my office, I plan on helping teach these people, and anyone else who is interested, how to herald court, and how to perform the duties of a field herald. As soon as I know when and where such classes will be, I’ll let everyone know.
Volunteer Early, Volunteer Often!

Greetings Stromgard:
I'd like to give you an update on the Stromgard OP.
First off there is the OP that was updated and maintained by our Baronial
heralds on the Stromgard web site.
A Kingdom wide process was started so that the Baronial OP's not just for
Stromgard, but all Kingdom branches are now on the Kingdom web site. These
Branch OPs are maintained by the Kingdom web team, as there is no reason to
maintain two separate web pages/databases. I'll be linking to the Baronial OP
on the Kingdom web site some time this weekend.
The way it works is that our baronial herald sends updates to the Kingdom web
team once the awards have been given out by our Barron and Baroness. The Kingdom web team then makes the updates.
Also, at last nights meeting for those that were not present. Stanton has been
forwarding all of the necessary up dates to the Kingdome web team who will make
the updates as soon as they can.
Please remember that they are volunteers and do this work on their own time so
updates are not always done quickly.
It is no longer necessary to send your Baronial OP changes to me.
Thank you
