Game of Thrones : Stormgods                  Barony of Stromgard

Sept 12-14, 2008                                         Vancouver,  Wa

Note the NEW site. The grass-rich rolling hills near Woodland Washington host sunshine,  frivolity, camaraderie, open fields and sheltered meadows of an ancient family farm.

Count Sir Tiernan Mor Dal Cais’ landmark tournament “A Game of Thrones and Stormgods” is returning to Stromgard. This format pits teams of heavy fighters in war for supremacy in Stromgard's famous castle, while simultaneously competing for baronial heavy champion. Last year fighters raved it was EPIC!

Rapier fighters also will battle for mastery in the castle and Champion of Stromgard.

Countess Miranda’s most excellent Equestrian challenge . The Landed Excellencies are challenged to arrive at “Game of Thrones : Stormgods ” to compete Baronial team against Baronial  team.

Their Excellencies,Sir Arnjsborn Tiernanson Cu Righ, Hersir Stromgard and Meistara Reginleif in harfagra, Baroness Stromgard will be pleased to accept letters of intent for Heavy champion, Champion of Fence,  Champion of Horse, and Youth Champions. Activities also include a youth combat,  thrown weapons and archery contests, Rus run, A&S activities. The day will be culminated by torchlight court (night hides the guilty and torchlight rewards the victorious), followed by a party on the eric, (nobody does it like Stromgard), and glow in the dark Bocce.

Eureka!” is a Greek word for “being in a state of having found it.”

We all feel that way about our grand Society of Creative Anachronism – all of us have had at least one “Eureka” moment. There is magic in this word – it entices us onward and upward in pursuit of our passion(s). What was your “Eureka” moment? What is your passion? Come share it with others! (Others who will NOT get that glazed-over eyed expression when you speak of your passion!) From armor, fighting and shield-work to cooking, carpentry or sericulture…what is your obsession? Bring your entry: project, research, new-found joy/work-in-progress or lifetime’s achievement to Stormgods on September 13, 2008, and display it for the populace – you may win a nice prize, you may learn more about your project, you may inspire others – you will definitely have fun and enjoy sharing your “Eureka” moment!
Date: Saturday, September 13, 2008
Time: Entries may be set up immediately following Opening Court in the
Stromgard Baronial Pavilion (approximately 10:00 a.m.) and removed by 5:00 p.m. Prizes(s) will be awarded at Torchlight Court Saturday evening.
Each entrant will receive a chapbook to take home with comments on their
entry, and a token for entering. Judging criteria include (but are not limited
to): originality, craftsmanship, historical accuracy, amount of completion,
degree of difficulty, and passion/excitement about the project.
Documentation is NOT required, but extra points may be awarded for research. ALL AGES are welcome to enter!
